During the tech euphoria of the late 1990s, Cisco's CCIE certification was a rare, highly coveted badge of IT honour. Stories were told of successful CCIE candidates who, within a week of passing the CCIE lab exam, had to fight off companies and recruiters that were begging them to accept lucrative job offers.
Whatever the truth of those tales, people have developed a much more sober view of IT certification over the last three years. Although the CCIE may not be the stuff of rumours and legends any more, it remains a challenging and valuable accreditation. In fact, Cisco has expanded its CCIE program to three tracks, updated its other certification programs (e.g., CCNA and CCNP), and added a number of Qualified Specialist certifications that target networking specialties such as VPN, firewalls, IP telephony, security, and wireless LANs.
To help you sort out all of the changes and the new certification options, we've put together a newly updated all-in-one Cisco certification guide. This free download breaks down the following certifications:
- CCNA
- CCDA
- CCNP
- CCDP
- CCIP
- CCSP
- Cisco Qualified Specialist
- CCIE
