Via Technologies launched a new version of its Via C3 processor for portable computers, Thursday, at the CeBIT trade show in Hannover, Germany. The new chip will run at clock speeds of up to 933 MHz. Via expects the chip to be used in devices ranging from notebooks PCs to Web tablets.

The company also used the CeBIT pulpit to announce its new Apollo P4X333 chipset for Intel's Pentium 4 chip. The new chipset, a group of enabling chips for the desktop PC processor, adds support for 333MHz double data rate SDRAM and a faster 533MHz bus, the pipeline between processor and memory.

The chipset is shipping now to Via customers. Via did not, however, announce pricing or its intended ship date for the new C3.
