NetSuite adds cloud product range for coders

On-demand software company NetSuite on Thursday expanded its product range with the addition of cloud-based applications for developers.
NetSuite, whose range includes online ERP and CRM, said its SuiteCloud application can be used by companies to upload their own applications to the cloud. Based on the company's ERP Suite, SuiteCloud will be available for companies that wish to run their own business applications as cloud services.
The company said in a statement that by using the NetSuite cloud services, "businesses will be able to target new markets quickly with newly created business applications built on top of mature and proven business processes".
SuiteCloud includes SuiteCloud Developer Network (SDN), a developer program for independent software vendors (ISVs), and SuiteApp.com, an online marketplace where ISVs, customers and other users can look for applications that may suit their business requirements.
As part of the service, NetSuite said its cloud environment would let ISVs embed NetSuite's feature-set into their applications so they can, in turn, build business applications.
NetSuite chief executive, Zach Nelson, said: "SuiteCloud enables our partners to build business-focused applications quickly and helps our customers transition their operations to the future of commercem which is cloud computing."
Cloud computing is undergoing rapid adoption, especially in the US, according to NetSuite. Speaking in February, Nelson said that NetSuite's business grew 40 percent year-on-year last year. NetSuite competitor Salesforce.com also saw a 44 percent increase in its year-on-year increase.
The SuiteCloud service was launched on Thursday at SuiteCloud.com.
