Public Sector Technology Project of the Year at the 2008 CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards was won by the Pharmaceutical Oncology Initiative Partnership's Chemotherapy Planning Oncology Resource Tool — or C-Port — project.
The one key component in modern healthcare planning is fairness, and that is best expressed in careful deployment of vital resources. Without that, no plan will succeed. So the judges were delighted to recognise the Pharmaceutical Oncology Initiative Partnership — a joint venture between the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, the Department of Health's Cancer Action Team, and the NHS Cancer Services Collaborative Improvement Partnership.
Using web technologies to synchronise planning across cancer units, C-Port is a signpost to the way interactive, distributed, industry-standard technology can — and must — be used in the future to build the health service we need.
