Ian Hughes, IBM metaverse evangelist, explained the data it gathers at the championships is used to power the website which keeps tennis fans up to date about the matches — and said moving into Second Life was an obvious step.

He said: "These are incredibly engaging environments. The natural evolution was to take the same data that we collect and use in it in one of these environments so people can look at it together."

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
