Apple is preparing to open another three high-street retail stores in the UK later this year.

An Apple spokeswoman confirmed: "We are opening three new Apple Stores in the UK before year end, one in Bentall Centre, Kingston; one in Arndale Centre, Manchester; and one in West Quay, Southampton. This will bring the number of stores we have in the UK to nine."

It has already posted a notice on its Web site asking for CVs from people interested in filling the shoes of 'Mac Genius' at the new stores.

According to the job description, applicants need to be able to handle a Mac "like Yo-Yo-Ma plays the Cello", and need to enjoy working with people as much as computers.

The job description for 'Mac Specialist' asks: "Does the thought of working for Apple fill you with unconfined happiness? If so, you might have what it takes to become an Apple Mac Specialist."

The iPod-maker already has six stores in the UK at the Bullring in Birmingham; Bluewater, Brent Cross; London's Regent Street; Trafford Centre in Manchester; and Meadowhall in Sheffield.
