The latest version of Borland's Java IDE includes improved collaboration capabilities, the company said on Wednesday.
JBuilder 2006, which will be available in mid-September, includes features that allow several developers to work on code or design diagrams simultaneously. Developers are often prevented from developing code simultaneously as many version control systems allow only one developer to edit code at any point in time.
Boz Elloy, a senior vice-president at Borland, claimed this tool will help dispersed teams work together more effectively. "JBuilder 2006 enables remote teams to build software with the same feel as if they were in the same room, offering larger and dispersed teams the same levels of productivity previously reserved for smaller, localized teams," said Elloy in a statement.
The company has also launched a new version of its application performance management toolkit, Optimizeit, which is available now.
