Sybase on Monday released server software tuned to gather data from RFID devices and connect that information to a company's back-end systems.

Called RFID Enterprise, the software can collect information generated from RFID readers and integrate it with business applications, such as manufacturing and inventory management tools. The package includes software that allows a developer to create reports on collected data and write custom programs. The starting cost for the product is $50,000 (£26,000), and it includes Sybase's RFID Anywhere software, which can communicate with different RFID hardware.
