Five years ago: Dell number one in declining government market

Dell confirmed its emergence as a fully fledged blue chip by being named as the number one supplier to UK central government yesterday. Dell UK corporate managing director Mike Newton said that "nearly one in five PCs installed [in government] has a Dell badge on it".

The accolade came from Kable, an IT researcher specialising in the public sector, which added that the government market has declined 17 per cent in two years thanks to budget trimming.
