Motorola, Psion team up on Symbian wireless devices

The two companies will jointly design and develop wireless information devices for accessing the Internet. The devices are being designed to work on worldwide cellular networks.
According to the two companies, development work on the first product is under way and a worldwide launch is due in the first half of 2001. There are no details on the product at present, aside from the fact that it will have integrated voice and data capabilities.
"The agreement is a strong endorsement for Symbian," stated Psion (quote: PON) CEO David Levin, "It demonstrates how Psion is shaping the future of mobile Internet."
The agreement between the companies is non-exclusive, meaning that products will be marketed separately by the two companies. The jointly developed products will be based on next generation Symbian technology and will feature both companies' logos.
