A Year Ago: Apple explains UK cost of iMac

Apple has responded to queries regarding the cost of its iMac in the UK. The consumer machine costs $1,299 in the US -- that's around £792. But in the UK customers will be charged £999.

Apple says shipping costs, VAT and localisation of the machines for the UK market all add to the cost of the iMac and other computers.
