Netscape will tomorrow christen and showcase the NetCaster 'push' component of its Communicator client software.

Formerly known by its Constellation codename, NetCaster will be announced in a London press conference tomorrow and put into a May beta release of Communicator. NetCaster allows information to be delivered to PCs over intranets and the Internet, as well as letting users log onto personal files from any PC running NetCaster through a feature called HomePort.

Netscape is also expected to incorporate support for Marimba 'push' channels delivery vehicle, replying to Microsoft's similar deal with PointCast for Active Desktop channels. Both firms will shortly announce content partners.
