The intent is to secure the hearts and minds of developers of high-end engineering software.

Intel has also unveiled a new graphics specification intended to speed up NT-based systems and make them more attractive as power machines. The Accelerated Graphics port (AGP) Pro specification will deliver up to four times the power of conventional AGP, claims Intel.

The announcement was made at a Seattle-based forum which Bill Gates is expected to address.
