"We expect that PC companies around the world will license Elonex's technology in their attempts to comply with increasingly important global energy conservation standards," said Elonex commercial director Michael Spiro.

Elonex said the award was the second in a series emanating from a 1992 application. Hewlett-Packard already licenses the technology and Spiro is confident that licensing deals will become widespread.

He added that all licensing deals may not be royalty-based but involve cross-licensing or mitigation of roylaty payments owed. "It's a lucrative asset," he said.
