IE 3.01 contains a couple of middle-grade enhancements for which Windows users will have to wait until IE 4.0. Monitoring Favourites automatically inspects user-specified sites and alerts users - by audio, dialogue box, flashing icon or e-mail - when modifications have taken place. AutoComplete, as its name suggests, automatically completes partially formed URL addresses by scanning Favourites and History lists.

Other features include Internet Mail and News 3.0 with better filtering and message searching; JavaScript support; Download Manager; and Cookie Manager.

IE 3.01 for Macintosh asks for 4Mb RAM.
