The ASA has asked McAfee to make changes to the ad which suggested that founder Alan Solomon no longer played an important role in the company. One line asked: "If Dr Solomon has the number one anti-virus software ... then why did he sell his practice?" A complaint that market share statistics quoted were unfair was also upheld.

Mike Hill, director of product marketing at Dr Solomon's, said the company was "delighted" with the finding. "It really shows how underhand McAfee is being with its marketing tactics," he said.
