Xing adds MMX, Web savvy to MPEG software

The XingMPEG Encoder2 adds support for MMX processors and smaller file sizes designed to make it more useful for working the Web. AVI and WAV files can be converted to MPEG and Xing claims that a minute of video can be encoded in 45 seconds.

The package includes a new version of the XingMPEG Player for MPEG-1. Xing estimates there are 15 million players in distribution.
