Laroux has been around for five months and was the first reported Excel macro virus. The latest strain, Laroux B, surfaced over the last few weeks. The new strain was said to be more dangerous as it actually affected data while the original Laroux virus simply spread itself from file to file without causing any real damage.
The antidote was designed to cope with Laroux although it is said to disarm Laroux B just as well. Microsoft has said that no new occurrences of the more deadly strain have been reported over the last couple of weeks.
