British, Norwegians pay big bucks for IT products

UK IT buyers who complain about missing out on US-style bargain prices should take heart: they could be in Norway. The Scandinavian country is the most expensive in Europe when it comes to buying IT equipment, according to a report issued today.
PCs in Norway are 76 per cent more expensive than in the Benelux countries, and 27 per cent and 13 per cent more expensive than in Germany and the UK respectively, claimed the report by the Department of Trade and Industry for printer maker Kyocera Electronics.
The European IT League Table report also found it is 86 per cent more expensive to use e-mail in Norway than in the UK, and 22 per cent more expensive than in Sweden. The report added that Belgium and Luxembourg are the cheapest places to buy IT kit.
