The mail-order specialist's own-brand Aries Scan-It Pro 4800P (£199) has a maximum interpolated resolution of 4800dpi and ships with Recognita Plus OCR, ImageIn image editing, and Action Centre custom controls software. The scanner connects to the parallel port and doesn't require a dedicated interface card.
