Due out in mid-September, DrawPlus Home/Office is aimed squarely at the consumer and SoHo markets with ease-of-use high on the agenda and help in the form of numerous templates and Wizards for everything from text and envelopes to cartoons. Children are also catered for with the Monster Maker Wizard.

Other improvements over DrawPlus version 2.0 are the inclusion of automated drawing tools, a bitmap graphics editor and more text functions. The package ships with 150 basic designs for formats such as cards, certificates and posters, with more designs available on Serif's Web site, and features 36 QuickShape images to simplify the design process. Also included are 20,000 clipart images, 500 fonts and a set of Photo-CD images.

The minimum installation for DrawPlus Home/Office will take up around 8Mb of disk space, and the package should be available off the page for around £40: users of earlier versions of DrawPlus or other Serif products will be able to upgrade for about £20.

Meanwhile, as part of the deal with Serif's new owner, Allegro New Media, Serif will be shipping Allegro's CD-ROM products in the UK. Initial offerings will include: Learn To Use Windows 95 (with online versions of two Que books, Using Windows 95 and The Complete Idiot's Windows 95); titles from the Entrepreneur series such as The Small Business Encyclopedia and 1000 Business Forms and Letters; and the Berlitz Travel Guides to Europe.

Serif can be contacted by telephone on 01159-421502 or at www.serif.com
