Microsoft to launch security portal

Microsoft is to launch its own security portal in July. Named the Microsoft Malware Protection Center, the portal is currently in preview.
Aimed at Microsoft customers, partners and security professionals, the site currently details the most active families and variants of malware affecting its products. Microsoft is also using it as a platform to promote its own security products.
The company is collaborating with security vendors to gather and disseminate malware information, and it has recently opened malware research labs in Japan and Ireland to complement the existing research labs at its headquarters in Redmond.
Nick McGrath, director of security for Microsoft UK, added that the company is recruiting malware researchers. "We're looking to hire the very best security professionals," McGrath told a press conference at the InfoSecurity Europe conference on Wednesday.
