News Burst: Mobile phone firms to meet Straw

Mobile phone manufacturers will meet the home secretary Jack Straw and police officers in an effort to curb rising crime figures associated with the theft of handsets, often from young children.

Latest estimates suggest that thefts of mobiles make up one third of all recorded street crime in the UK. Jack Straw told the BBC Wednesday that mobile phone firms and operators will be called to a meeting to discuss better security facilities.
