Windows Me has a bug

A security hole that allows a malicious hacker to crash a machine running Windows ME has been found.

The bug which affects the program's WebTV for Windows application means that a machine running Windows ME is vulnerable to Denial of Service attacks. These can shut down or reboot a computer as well as exposing it to attacks that require a reboot.

According to reports, Microsoft was informed in August that there were security problems with WebTV for Windows on machines running Windows 98.

Microsoft has figured out a way to have user ID tags ignore everyday browser settings and report ID information across domains.
