Airport police will use email to fight crime

From Spring, Gatwick's police will employ a scheme whereby the public can report crimes, particularly petty criminal activity such as theft, using an online database before it is added to a new computer database of all illegal activity at the airport.

The Gatwick online database (Gold) will be downloaded to a central computer system and details of offences added to national criminal intelligence records.

Theft accounts for a third of all crime committed at Gatwick, which is Britain's second largest airport.
