Gartner: Y2K security problems could cost billions

Companies experiencing Year 2000-related computer security glitches are vulnerable to electronic fraud that could cost them billions of dollars, according to a report released by Gartner Group Inc. Friday. "The likely perpetrator would be a highly-skilled software engineer who has worked on Y2K remediation efforts and understands both computer systems and the underlying business processes," Gartner officials said in a statement.
