The market for IT jobs in the UK is continuing to stabilise, with supply matching demand more closely in the last quarter than in the last two years, according to the latest statistics from the government's ICT sector skills council, e-skills.

There was a decrease in IT-related skills shortages to just six percent, e-skills said in its report for the first quarter of 2007.

Where there are skill shortages, these are in systems development and programming and, to a lesser extent, senior systems developers and senior programmers, the report said. Skills most in demand include WinRunner, Flash, Bluetooth, C, C# and embedded systems.

But employers continue to complain about the skills of graduates. According to e-skills, around a third of IT recruiters complain that the level of these skills were below those required by their business.
