IT spending by SMEs in China and India is expected to hit record levels this year.
Analyst house IDC predicts Chinese and Indian SMEs will increase tech investment by more than 10 percent in 2007 compared with last year.
Global SME IT spend will reach its highest level in the past decade, growing by 8.3 percent in 2007, while overall IT sales are set to rise by 6.5 percent.
Adopting technology such as PCs and internet access will be more rapid in China and India compared with other countries, and will set the stage for even greater growth in SME spending in the region over the coming years, according to IDC.
IT product and service players — specifically Indian service providers — will also introduce new SME offerings, increasing the opportunity for greater spending on IT by small and medium-sized enterprises.
The UK's SMEs are also predicted to up their IT budgets by 10.7 percent in 2007, according to AMR Research.
