The NHS has redesigned its main Web site, it was announced on 14 July, 2004.
The site is now serves as a "gateway" for the health service, according to the NHS Information Authority, and is designed to provide "easy access" to information and services held on the large number of official health websites.
According to the latest figures, the site is proving popular, attracting 600,000 users each month, with four million pages viewed in June 2004.
Following a usability study last year, the site aims to make searching for local services easier. For those without internet access, the site's information is also available via the NHS Direct telephone service.
