News Burst: Chip industry warned of imminent slowdown

A Silicon Valley analyst firm has warned that a downturn in the processor market could hit in the next six months.

Advanced Forecasting (AFI) said Tuesday that a "significant slowdown" could hit most of the integrated circuit industry in early 2001, following slower growth for the rest of this year.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
