Several firms in the City of London including investment bank, Investco and solicitors Travers Smith Braithwaite were hit by the Melissa virus over the weekend according to sources.

Robert Turner from the IT department of Travers Smith Braithwaite said of the virus: "We have five or six viruses related to Melissa going around. It is now a question of finding them and disinfecting the system."

A member of Investco's IT department admitted the company was still experiencing problems with the virus but no information on how it is affecting business could be given.
