News Burst: Colt shares soar on profits

Colt Telecom (CTM: quote ) shares jumped to a record high of 1,948p Tuesday after the telco, which is expanding throughout Europe, announced a 71 percent improvement in Q3 sales and the achievement of profitability. Shares continued to rise in early trading Wednesday, topping 2,000p. Colt's announcement of earnings kicked off a week of telco reports which will include British Telecom and Cable & Wireless.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
