News Burst: Digital cameras go mainstream - IDC

IDC believes the digital camera market has now moved from the early adopter stage towards the mass market, with Western European sales expected to reach 616,000 units in 1999 and over 4 million by 2003.

The company believes that falling prices coupled with the improved quality and resolution of many cameras have contributed to the wider uptake.
