A Year Ago: IT professionals concerned by Microsoft's influence

According to a survey by IT recruitment consultants DP Connect, IT professionals are concerned that Microsoft is "gaining too much influence" in the industry.

Its report, Priorities for IT People, reveals that of the 162 IT professionals surveyed 78.6 percent are concerned by Microsoft's position in the industry. Over 45 percent of those surveyed said they were very concerned.

Microsoft was unable to respond.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
