Some 50 separate projects involving 1000 organisations, pioneered under the Welsh Development Agency's (WDA) regional technology plan, have been piloted since 1996. The result is that a vast network of businesses have been wired up to each other, and to universities, schools and business support agencies.

One of the successful projects, Welsh Business Angels, seeks to pair up companies looking for funding and private investors.
