News Burst: Special master named in Sun-Microsoft case

Retired Judge Charles Renfrew, a former federal district judge, has been named special master in the Sun Microsystems vs. Microsoft lawsuit over Java technology. In another action, Judge Ronald Whyte issued a tentative order closing Thursday's hearing to the public. Evidentiary hearings will remain open, however, according to Sun.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
