It's official, the much maligned Windows 98 operating system will get its first service pack on 18 August. The company continues to deny the ‘multimedia update' - as it will be named - is really a bug fix, claiming it has many multimedia enhancements.

Windows 98 has been widely criticised for less-than-simple installation with many customers claiming the product wrecks computers that worked well with Windows 95.
