A year ago: Olivetti cuts notebook pricing by 23 per cent

Olivetti Personal Computers (OPC) yesterday cut pricing on its Echos and Echos Pro notebook PC lines.
The UK will see the high-end Echos Pro range cut by up to 23 per cent. At the summit of the range, the 150MHz Pentium-based Echos Pro 150X is reduced from £3,799 to £2,899
Earlier this week at a conference in Venice, Italy, OPC chief executive Bernhard Auer said that "our notebook business points the way for the rest of the company". In 1996, the company's near-doubling of annual notebook sales gave it the number four position in Europe, according to Dataquest market research.
