Netscape to offer free Communicator

The firm, which has long been a fierce critic of its bitter rival's give-away tactics, recently said it was considering a change to its client software pricing strategy. In September last year, Netscape said it had stopped charging Internet service providers for browser software.

An announcement on Netscape desktop plans is due at 5.30pm UK time.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
