Fujitsu ships 42-in flat-screen monitor

Aimed at environments where space is at a premium but a large viewing area required, the unit has a viewing angle of 160 degrees and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Also, Fujitsu claims the device can recognise computer and video inputs and intelligently switch resolutions accordingly.

Demonstrated today at ZDNet's offices, the Plasmavision 42 certainly looked a desirable piece of equipment but the price will give pause to all but the most committed purchaser. It costs £9,875 + VAT.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
