One of the first of the new breed is Sony's sub-£300 CDU 928E which has the additional benefit of offering two-speed recording to CD-R media, and eight-speed playback.

CD-R devices are now becoming popular with a growing number of users who need to transfer large files or back up large amounts of data. As well as Sony, CD-R devices are offered by many vendors, including NEC, electronique d2, Toshiba, and others.

Sony can be contacted by telephone on 01932-816000.
