Compaq plans LAN hardware push at Networks

The world number one in PCs will announce a networking product suite aimed at SME or corporate workgroups and host a "Network Management Challenge" at the Birmingham show which runs at the NEC from June 24-26. The Challenge, held by Compaq in troika with Microsoft and reseller Morse NT, will allow visitors to virtually manage a simulated corporate LAN based on Compaq hardware and software.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
