MetaTools+Fractal Design=MetaCreations

"The combination of MetaTools and Fractal Design leverages our strategies for growing the professional digital graphics tool business for print and electronic publishing, video and entertainment while continuing to expand into the consumer visual graphics market," said MetaTools CEO and now MetaCreations CEO John Wilczak in a prepared statement.

The day before Friday's merger completion announcement, MetaTools released Kai's PhotoSoap (£40), an image manipulation package for Macintosh And PC.

UK distribution for MetaCreations products will be through Principal who can be contacted by telephone on 01756-704000.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
