Visual C++ for Windows CE is an add-on to Visual C++ 5.0 that includes the full Windows CE SDK, as well as the Handheld PC shell, file system services and device driver emulation so developers can build Windows CE-based applications on Windows NT desktops. The Windows CE Desktop Emulation SDK can be downloaded now from Microsoft's Web site.

"Before Visual C++ for Windows CE was available, developing for Handheld PCs and other non-PC devices had been significantly more challenging than developing for the Windows-based desktop," said Mike Pryke-Smith, product manager of the Internet platform and tools division at Microsoft. "Visual C++ for Windows CE makes developing for these devices as easy as developing for Windows 95 and Windows NT."

Microsoft Connections can be contacted by telephone on 0345-002000.
