"Unless you can prove the RAM was manufactured outside Korea or Japan, or prove the goods were sold above the EC's reference price, there is a tariff. I'm not sure anybody was dumping. If it was true that the Korean government had told makers to cut production then it worked; production was down by 20-30 per cent." - Ian Boyle, Datrontech.

"This is fundamentally a PC and we're not apologetic about this." - Ron Peck, Intel NetPC marketing manager.

"M2 is fine and hunky-dory and bang on date." - Brendan Sherry, Cyrix.

"We're certainly aiming for the end of March but we reserve the right to implement a feature or make something better. It may be the end of the night on Monday but you can bet your bottom dollar our programmers will be burning the midnight oil to get it up there [on the Microsoft Web site]." - Jeremy Gittins, Microsoft.

"AGP 4X will move the bandwidth even higher than before, to the 1Gb/sec range, and we're also thinking what we can do to go beyond that. This is a very big task." - Albert Yu, Intel.

"You will see at least a 10x improvement in user-perceptible [visual] performance in the next three years. Viewers have become accustomed to the quality of television and video today, and they want no less than that." - Craig Barrett, Intel.

"It won't just be putting up yesterday's print news. It will use all the advantages of the Internet including animations, video, sound, reader polls and reader contributions." Taylor Collyer, MSN on MSN News.

"It's not that the National Curriculum or what the Tories are doing is wrong. The UK has more PCs per schoolchild than any other G7 country but the problem is that 50 per cent of those PCs are more than five years old and the teacher confidence in training is very low." - Fiona McLean, PR manager.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
