NT 5.0 to ship first half of 1998 - Gates

Microsoft chairman and CEO Bill Gates said yesterday he is "pretty confident" Windows NT 5.0 will ship in the first half of 1998. The firm recently pushed back the previous late-1997 planned ship date. Gates made the remarks in a US television interview.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
