NT 4.0 users get free MS fax software

The growing band of Windows NT 4.0 users can now download free fax software from Microsoft's Web site. Personal Fax, available in beta form since early November, offers send and receive fax functions, Wizard help, printing and routing, but lacks some of the bells and whistles of fully-featured products. For instance, there is no support for optical character recognition (OCR).

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
