The US firm introduced quad-processor Pentium Pro-based servers running Windows NT and Tandem's own clustering software. Bolstering its efforts to move into the computing mainstream, Tandem earlier this week appointed Enrico Pesatori as president and CEO. Pesatori was in charge of Digital's PC division and his departure will fuel rumours that the company plans to quit the PC market.

Tandem also said it plans to move aggressively to provide technology enabling electronic commerce over the Internet.

Tandem can be contacted by telephone on 0171-628 0661.
