3M sees Travan death rumours as exaggerated

"I'm surprised they're saying that," said Mark Nicholson, product manager for tape technologies at Imation, the recently spun-off 3M storage division. "Their Ditto 800 and 3200 are Travan drives. This looks like a line filler to me. If it's cheaper media they're talking about that's small beer."
"All they're doing is complicating the market. If you look at the line-up behind Travan with Hewlett-Packard, Seagate, Exabyte, TEAC and Tandberg, it's not going to go away. Travan is moving across the desktop and into the network. Iomega has done well in the consumer and small business sector but to say it is going to make Travan go away doesn't add up."
