Dell HDD shortage spurs 600Mb freebie

Dell buyers who are quick off the mark could get a 600Mb bonus. A shortage of 1Gb hard drives has led the direct seller to give 1.6Gb drives to purchasers at no extra charge. "We had a bit of a shortfall and we are concentrating on supplying 1Gb drives to big accounts, so we're giving away the larger drives in our volume business," a spokesman said.
